Our Farm

Our holiday cottages are surrounded by a 320 acre working farm which was listed in the Doomsday Book.

A family business

The Elson family have lived on the farm for five generations

Cargurra Farm covers 320 acres, with 100 acres used for growing barley and the remaining 220 acres for grazing beef cattle. In 1984, Gillian and Edward Elson began diversifying into tourism by renovating a barn that originally housed straw, hay, and corn. Today, the farm is managed by Julian Elson and his wife, Amy, who takes care of the holiday cottages. They welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2015 — the first female Elson born in two generations! They had their second child, a son, in 2017.

Our commitment

Sustainability for us has been our family farming the same land for five generations.

To ensure a sustainable future, we are committed to working with our environment to maintain our farm and provide wonderful North Cornwall holidays for generations. The 2004 Boscastle flood highlighted the urgent need for change, prompting us to reduce our environmental impact. We recycle, reuse, use eco-friendly cleaning products, and employ local services to minimize our carbon footprint. Our farming techniques are designed to preserve this beautiful land. We invite you to join us in making a real difference together.
